Here is a list of symptoms that can help you diagnose a problem.

Black Smoke:
Plugged air filter and\or air induction system, stuck open injector(s).
Blue Smoke:
Plugged fuel filter, worn injector(s), oil leaking into air intake, engine temperature low.
White smoke:
Partially plugged fuel lines or filter, injection pump timing incorrect,
   When your vehicle or equipment doesn't work correctly or doesn't work at all, it can be frustrating and time consuming to fix.  Most failures and problems can be eliminated with preventative maintennance.  Changing your fuel filter, air filter and water separators on a regular basis will solve a lot of problems later on.

Hard Starting when cold
--Air leak in fuel system.
